The Surprising Origins of the Tooth Fairy 🦷

Did you know that the Tooth Fairy wasn’t always a sparkly winged fairy?

The legend we know today was inspired by an 18th-century French fairy tale called La Bonne Petite Souris  The Good Little Mouse. In this magical tale, a brave little mouse (who just so happens to be a fairy in disguise!) helps save a kind queen from a wicked king. How? By knocking out his teeth and hiding them under his pillow!

Sounds wild? Maybe, but it’s where the magic began.

The story was re-released in the 1920s and quickly captured the imagination of families everywhere. That’s when the idea of a fairy who collects children’s teeth and leaves behind treasures truly took flight.

From that moment on, the Tooth Fairy became a beloved tradition and parents everywhere joined in to keep the sparkle alive
